Smart Spend

Learn how Smart Spend works, how to book it and what to expect after your booking. Available on desktop only.

Smart Spend is a type of Paid Multiposting on JOIN. It lets you set a budget for a premium promotion of your job posting, which is then reviewed by JOIN's job ad experts. Instead of selecting job boards yourself, your budget is allocated to the platforms most likely to deliver good results, based on the role, the sector and JOIN's marketplace data.


Ideal use cases

Smart Spend is ideal for:

  • Employers who are not familiar with premium job boards

  • Teams looking for a fast, effective promotion without manual setup

  • Experts who want to rely on data and experience to get results


Booking and allocation process

Smart Spend is only accessible and can only be purchased from the promotion section of a specific job posting, not from the general Store tab.

Steps to book Smart Spend:

  1. Go to the Jobs tab and select the job you want to promote.

  2. Click the Promote button, or open the Premium job boards sub-tab by clicking on the job.

  3. Use the Smart Spend slider to choose your budget. You'll see minimum, recommended and maximum budget allocation indications based on your job.

  4. Click Add this budget

  5. Open Your cart at the top right, then click Proceed to checkout

  6. Review and update billing information if necessary

  7. Choose your payment method, then click Place order

What happens next:

  • JOIN's expert team reviews your job posting and your budget

  • Platforms are manually selected and booked on your behalf based on: the role and title, the location and sector, booking history and platform performance, the budget you set

  • The selected job boards appear under Store > Bookings usually within one business day

  • Each platform may have a different distribution duration (e.g. 7, 14 or 30 days)

  • As soon as bookings appear with the status Pending, they usually go live within 24 to 48 hours


Finding your Smart Spend bookings

  1. Go to the Store tab

  2. Click Bookings

  3. Open the Ongoing sub-tab

You'll see each assigned job board and its current status. Once live, the status changes from Pending to Active.


Booking manually

Smart Spend is a "hands-off" solution, but it may not be the best option if you want to keep full control. You may prefer to book manually if: you need to guarantee the use of a specific platform (e.g. LinkedIn or XING), you're targeting a niche audience or sector, you want to apply a campaign or bundle with a fixed structure. To book a specific platform, use the Store tab or the Promote button on the job's card instead of Smart Spend.
