How to register a sick leave on Skello?

My employee is on sick leave and I don't know how to add it on Skello.

Managing sick leave on Skello keeps your schedule up to date and helps you track your employees' absences properly. Here's how to set up sick leave absences on your employee's schedule.


How to add sick leave for less than a week

  1. Add an absence shift:

    • Go to the relevant week.

    • Add a Sick leave absence shift on the affected days.

  2. Adjust based on the day:

    • Working day → full-day absence

    • Weekly rest day → absence set to 0h

How to add sick leave for a longer period (multiple full weeks)

  1. Create an absence shift for a full week:

    • Go to the first week of the sick leave.

    • Create a Sick leave absence shift from Monday to Sunday (calendar days, rest days included).

  2. Use the repeat feature:

    • Click Repeat shift or Customize repeat.

    • Apply the absence to the following weeks.

👉 This lets Skello automatically recognize a full week and apply the correct calculation.

How is long-term sick leave calculated?

👉 This calculation only applies to a full calendar week (Monday → Sunday). Social Security-compensated sick leave must therefore be entered across all 7 days, including weekly rest days.

  • Rest days included → Weekly hours ÷ (7 − number of rest days) Ex: 35h ÷ (7 − 2) = 7h ✅ Daily value of the absence on the schedule will be 7h

  • No rest days included → Weekly hours ÷ 7 Ex: 35h ÷ 7 = 5h ✅ Daily value of the absence on the schedule will be 5h

👉 Result: the total matches the contract (e.g. 35h) → 0 overtime hours.

  • Sick leave (work-related, non-work-related, extension)

  • Workplace accident

  • Commuting accident

  • Maternity leave

  • Paternity leave

  • Adoption leave
