Absences without overtime compensation

If the establishment operates without overtime compensation, absences are divided into four categories:

  1. Absences compensated by the employer:

    • Authorized paid absences, medical examinations, lay-offs, event-related leave, etc.

  2. Absences compensated by a third party:

    • Commuting accident, workplace accident, sick leave, maternity leave, paternity leave, etc.

  3. Absences without compensation:

    • Authorized absences, entry/exit, unjustified, parental leave, sick leave, strike, etc.

  4. Neutral absences:

    • On-call duty, break, weekly rest. These absences do not affect the total number of hours on the schedule, but are for information purposes only.

Absences with additional hours compensation

If overtime compensation is activated, absences are divided into three categories:

  1. Absences included in the hour tracker:

    • Considered as actual working hours to avoid discrepancies in total weekly hours.

    • Example: Employee at CFA all week, total of 35 hours, no hours to make up.

  2. Absences not included in the hour tracker:

    • Can create a negative difference on the tracker in relation to the weekly hours total.

    • Example: An employee works 30h and is on authorized absence 5h, balance at -5h to be made up in subsequent weeks.

  3. Neutral absences:

    • Have no impact on total scheduled hours, information value on schedule and report.

    • Neutral absences: On-call duty, break, weekly rest.

Good to know

  • Some absences can be defined as included or excluded from the tracker. Click on the 6 dots to the left of the line to move the absence
    absences into the desired category.

  • Indicate the effective date of the category change to recalculate hours according to the new parameters.

  • It is not possible to know when an absence was moved to a category.
