Scorecards

Use scorecards in JOIN to structure candidate evaluation, align team feedback and decide with confidence. Templates, publishing and tips. Available on desktop only.

Scorecards are internal evaluation tools used to assess candidates during or after various hiring stages. Suitable for evaluating candidates at any pipeline stage, they are based on existing, customisable templates. They include rating criteria and space for notes. This helps your team compare candidates objectively and efficiently, while avoiding unstructured feedback.

Choose from existing scorecard templates, or create your own in SettingsScorecards.

Scorecard templates

Templates define the structure of your scorecards. You can reuse them across several jobs and hiring processes. Easily create or manage existing templates in SettingsScorecards.

To create or edit a scorecard template:

  1. Go to the Settings tab from the sidebar

  2. Select Scorecards

  3. From this screen, you can:

    • Click Add template to create a new scorecard

    • Click Duplicate to copy and customise an existing template

    • Click Delete to remove a scorecard template

    • Or click an existing scorecard to edit it

Changes made to templates only apply to scorecards created after the update. Existing scorecards remain unchanged.

Adding a scorecard

All published scorecards are visible in the candidate's profile. You can add a scorecard to any candidate with an active application, directly from their profile.

  1. Access a candidate's profile: click their name from the Applications, Jobs or Talent Pool tabs, or search for them with Cmd + K.

  2. Add a scorecard: select the Scorecards tab in the central panel, or in the Summary tab, click Add scorecard.

  3. Create a scorecard: in the modal window:

    • If the candidate is assigned to several jobs, select the job from the Job dropdown menu.

    • Select a template from the Scorecard dropdown menu.

    • Click Next step.

    • Fill in the scorecard: rate the attributes and add comments.

    • Click Publish scorecard, or choose Save as draft to resume later.

Scorecards save automatically as you work. Once published, only the person who created the scorecard can edit or delete it.

Scorecard interface and features

Interview questions

At the top of the scorecard, you'll find the list of questions assigned to the template. Each question includes an Answer and notes input field. You can answer questions in free text, use rich text formatting options, add questions by clicking Add a question, and remove a question by clicking the delete icon.

Attributes

Below the questions, you'll find a list of attributes (e.g. Communication skills, Organisational fit, Reliability). Each attribute can be rated using a 5-star system. You can add other attributes by clicking Add an attribute.

Overall impression

At the bottom of the scorecard, choose from 4 overall ratings: Definitely no, No, Yes, Definitely yes. You must also provide a summary in the General conclusions, pros and cons field.

Draft and publish options

  • Click Publish to share the scorecard with your team

  • Click Close draft to save your progress and come back to it later

  • Use Delete if the scorecard needs to be removed (only available to the person who created it)

Only the team member who created a scorecard can edit or delete it. Other users have read-only access.

Viewing scorecard feedback

All published scorecards for a candidate are shown in their Scorecards tab. If several team members publish feedback, JOIN displays each individual scorecard with the name of the person who wrote it, and an aggregated average per attribute.

Only published scorecards appear in the candidate profile view. Drafts remain private to their creator until published.

Tips for using scorecards effectively

  • Standardise templates by role type to improve consistency

  • Use the same criteria for all candidates to compare fairly

  • Encourage all interviewers to publish scorecards to gather varied perspectives

  • Review summaries in the Scorecards tab to support hiring discussions
