How to deduct lateness from salary only?

Description: lateness that is reflected in payroll only, not in the count of working hours. This setting is available only on computer.

When should you enable this setting?

  • Enable the "Deduct lateness from salary" option if your internal policy states that extra time worked during the day does not make up for lateness.

  • With this option, lateness is no longer deducted from total hours worked or from the hour tracker. It only appears in the payroll report, or in your payroll software if you have an integration between Skello and your payroll tool.

📝 Please note: this option does not stop the employee from working longer. It only makes sure that this extra time does not cancel out the lateness.

How to enable lateness deduction?

  1. Go to the establishment settings, in the [Rules and trackers] tab.

  2. Enable the "Deduct lateness from salary" option.

  3. Choose an activation date. It is always a Sunday, and the rule applies from the following Monday. If you choose a past date, weeks are recalculated from that date.

Where can you see lateness?

  • Schedule: nothing changes, lateness stays in grey and is deducted from the weekly total. Click a validated shift to see the "Lateness" section.

  • If overtime compensation is enabled: in the hour tracker, a "Lateness included in tracker" line adds the lateness to the total.

  • If overtime compensation is not enabled: click the "?" next to the weekly total to see the breakdown, with a "Lateness" line.

  • Report: the weekly total includes lateness. On hover, a "Lateness" line appears.

  • Export: select the "Hours worked (with lateness)" and "Hours worked (without lateness)" columns.

Good to know

  • Changes are retroactive from a date of your choice, up to 3 months back.

  • If you disable the option, all data returns to its initial state over the whole period.

  • Annualisation (modulation tracker) is not affected.
