How does the mobile application home screen work?
Updated over a month ago

Why is this important?

The home screen of the Skello mobile application is the main access point for your employees. As soon as they open it, they have access to key information such as the day's shifts, their paid time off balance, time tracking and their colleagues' birthdays. This overview helps them to better organize their day and stay informed.

What's on the home screen?

  • Today's shifts:

    • The shifts for the current day are displayed.

    • If a note for the day is added, it will be visible to the employees.

  • Paid time off (PTO) balance:

    • The date of the next PTO.

    • The available balance (if the paid paid time off tracker is active).

  • Total hours or hour counter balance:

    • The balance of the hours tracker.

  • Colleague birthdays:

    • Notification of birthdays directly on the home screen.

Shifts of the Day

All shifts for the current day are available as soon as the application is opened.

Note : In the Home tab, employees can only view their own shifts for the current day. Shifts will be visible only if the week has been published for the respective employee.

Day Notes

By Day notes we refer to the notes added below the date on the schedule, not those linked to a specific shift or employee.

If a note is added for the day, employees can view it by selecting Read today's note.

Important information regarding day notes:

  • Only the note for the current day can be viewed.

  • Day notes are accessible from the Home tab, not from the Schedule tab.

  • A shift or absence must be scheduled for the employee on the current day for the note to be visible.

Paid time off (PTO)

  • Date of the next PTO:

If multiple vacations are scheduled, only the earliest date will be displayed in the "Home" tab.

  • Paid time off balance:

If the paid leave tracker is enabled, the available balance will also be displayed.
This balance is based on the previous month.
For example, if we are in March, the balance displayed on the mobile app will correspond to the calculation made for the month of February.

Total hours or hour tracker balance

The balance of the hours tracker, displayed on the mobile app, corresponds to the total hours calculated for the last completed week.

For example, if we are in week 37, the displayed balance will reflect the hours for week 36. The balance is updated on the mobile app every Sunday evening.

Good to know:

  • The hour tracker can be configured to be visible or not, depending on permission levels. You can specify which permission levels will have access to the hour tracker balance.

  • The balance of the hour tracker is only accessible through the employee’s mobile app and will not be visible on the web interface.

  • Employees with annualized hours activated will have access to the hours that they have worked.

The hour tracker

This shows the total number of hours worked over and under the contractual weekly hours. For example, as of February 17, Anna-Maria had worked 7h30 more than her 35-hour contract.

Case study for the hour tracker :

  1. Establishment with hour tracker + permission activated: A “My hour tracker” block appears.

  2. Establishment with hour tracker BUT permission not activated: No hour tracker information is displayed.

  3. Establishment without hour tracker + permission enabled: Total weekly hours for the past week are displayed.

  4. Establishment without hour tracker and permission not enabled: No information is displayed.

Birthdays

If your employees have access to their team data, they can view their colleagues' birthdays via a notification directly on the home screen.
